Boxer Simranjit Kaur blasts on Punjab Government on Spending Money on Tik Tok users instead of Athletes

Almost five months back Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh committed to the bronze medalist boxer regarding her job surety that she will surely get a job but she is jobless yet.

He also took it to the twitter and tweeted, "I have directed Secretary, Sports, to immediately look into what needs to be done.” When Simranjit qualified her Tokyo Olympics in January she bought into the ears of media telling her financial problems to which Captain Amarinder Singh immediately reacted and assured that he will resolve the issue. At that time sports Minister KirenRijiju and Cricketer Harbhajan Singh also appreciated and thanked the media for highlighting Simranjit’s struggle

However, it looks like those were mere words of Capt. With no intention to materialize them. According to IAN, Simranjit stated that she has not received any kind of help and support from the Punjab government yet. She also said,” I don't know much about their (government) criteria. I was promised Rs 5 lakh also but who cares, whereas TikTok stars got their money from Punjab government well on time “

Simaranjit came out and shared her story of endless wait for the job stating “I was also promised a job in Punjab government when I met the Chief Minister Sir in March again but who cares! Why they want us, the athletes, to keep begging for what we deserve or promised?”

She also added "I haven't got a written assurance as of yet. Not a single paper in writing. I don’t know whom to meet or request. I can’t do anything much. Lockdown has stalled everything everywhere, so let's see when all this gets over and when I get a job. They should understand. I need it (job)”

Simranjit Singh belongs to Ludhiana’s Chakar village. There are five members in her family two younger brothers, her sister, and her mother. Her father died in July 2018 due to a heart attack. Her family is wholly dependent on what Simranjit earned

She is the gold medalist of 23rd President’s Cup International Boxing Tournament held in Indonesia.

She said in an interview to IAN,” I do drawing to keep my mind fresh and focused. It is one of my passions. I also do sewing, which I learned from my mother (Rajpal Kaur). I am not just sitting at home and letting any negativity come to my mind. However, there are times when I feel a little worried because of my job and family. But then my mother always keeps motivating me,"
