The Government of India has announced that all the travelers coming from abroad and supposed to be in self-isolation for two weeks. But, the IAS officer of Kerala himself did not follow the protocol, and he is supposed to create awareness among people to opt for self-quarantine.
The incident came into limelight when Anupam Mishra, IAS Officer of Kolam district of Kerala, was tracked down in his hometown in Uttar Pradesh. The officer was on leave post his marriage and went to Singapore, Malaysia. He reported to work after returning from Singapore on March 19, and authorities told him to go for self-isolation as he has returned from abroad. He immediately left the premises, but instead of staying in Kollam, he boarded the train to UP the same day.

Abdul Nasar, a Collector at Kollam, told NDTV," The sub-collector returned to Kollam on March 19 to join duty but was asked to go into home quarantine as a precautionary measure since he had just returned from abroad after leaving. However, on Thursday, we found out that he was not in Kollam. Instead, he had reached Kanpur. He had left on the 19th itself,"
Kerala Fisheries Minister J MercykuttyAmma stated NDTV, "This is very irresponsible behaviour. What else can be said about this? There will be action against him. He is not in Kollam”.
Currently, there are no positive cases tested in Kollam, whereas 126 positive cases have been reported in Kerala, out of which 12 have been successfully treated. Two people of British nationality were tested positive and treated in Kerala; now they have been discharged, said the Chief Minister PinarayiVijayan. The bureaucrat got suspended because of his irresponsible behavior and not following the government orders. Let’s hope it serves him a lesson and to others as well so that such cases do not happen again.
