Ahmedabad: A women Police Sub Inspector was sent to three-day police remand and was also arrested for accepting a bribe from an Ahmedabad based businessman who is accused in two rape cases.
The police officer was intercepting him for not getting charged under The Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act.
Shweta Jadeja, the SI was in charge of the Ahmedabad-West Mahila police station, and in the same station, a Fir was filed against her for charging money from the accused. Jadeja was arrested by a team of Detection of Crime Branch. The remand demanded her started on Saturday by Crime Branch and will end on July 7.
Managing Director of GSP Crop Science Private Limited - Kenal Shah has been under two rape cases which were filed by two women employees.
After the remand, it came out that Jadeja has threatened Kenal Shah through his brother Bhavesh Shah and then demanded Rs 35 Lakh from him after having a discussion on this the bribe amount settled at RS 20 Lakhs.
After Jadeja received the amount she demanded an additional amount of Rs 15 Lakhs for not applying the PASA Act against Kenal Shah. After SI Jadeja demanded this 15 Lakh, Shah approached the Crime Branch on June 27, and then an FIR was launched against her under sections 7 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
After this, she had a remand for seven days. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Deepan Bhadran said: “Now as we have received the remand of the Si from the court, we will try to trace and cover Rs 20 Lakh that she received from Kenal Shah”.
Of both the rape cases on Kenal Shah, this one was being invested by Shweta Jadeja.
