“Dangerous” a lesbian love story, the next directorial project of Ram Gopal Verma gets critised on Twittter

Ram Gopal Verma who was once known to make sensible cinema is hitting rock bottom with his choice of films. He recently announced that he will be making a film of lesbians and named it, “Dangerous”. He further unveiled the poster on Twitter and wrote, “My Lesbian crime action film’s title is DANGEROUS and it’s tag line is ..”Their affair killed many, including Cops and Gangsters.”

The director was excited and felt that he is making a movie based on the LGBT community which will help in normalising their status quo, but he received mixed reactions. The movie starring Apsara Rani and NainaGanguly is a crime thriller and is heavily criticized on Twitter as the netizens feel that it will encourage the fetishes of the males.

Ram Gopal, on the other hand, feels that the movie will do good because “It will be the first in India to culturally elevate the stigma of LGBT after the honourable Supreme Court repealed section 377." He further added, “My intention is to depict a love story between 2 women with as much respect and dignity as between a man and a woman."

But the reactions the movie received on Twitter were contrary to his thinking.

It reminds me of the time when there were B-grade movies on YouTube that depicted lesbian relationships as taboo and usually involved around crime. Often people used to point out how it depicts the male-dominated society and their fetishes, but Gopal’s movie affirms that the movie may or may not be dangerous, but will be a disaster.
