Humanity is ashamed: Indians following footsteps of China and enjoying animal cruelty!

Humans are the only species in the world that can think, make decisions, and evolve. But, the recent incident makes me wonder, are we human progressing or regressing with every passing day? A pregnant and hungry elephant went out of the secret to a village in hope for some food, and it was fed with a pineapple filled with firecrackers.

It could be fun for those adults with dark minds, or it was their act of self-defense against wild boar. But who gave them the right to violence? According to Article 51-A (g) of the Indian Constitution, it is the duty of every citizen to be compassionate to animals, so how can anyone feed explosives to wild animals, be it a boar or an elephant.

The 15-year-old pregnant elephant was observed roaming the streets of a village in Malappuram, Kerala, searching for food. When it was fed the explosive pineapple, the explosion severely injured her lower jaw, and she was still peacefully searching for some relief, maybe water or food in the village.

The forest commissioner Mohan Krishnan stated that the animal was full of goodness. He said, “She didn’t harm a single human being even when she ran in searing pain in the streets of the village. She didn’t crush a single home. This is why I said, she is full of goodness.”

The Wildlife Officer of Silent Valley National Park said, “First, we observed this animal on May 23 when locals informed us that an elephant has been roaming around in the private area of the forest. When one of our staff members went to see the elephant, we observed that the wound in the lower jaw area was exposed. Later, for at least 24 hours the animal was trying to look for water, and on May 24 we received information that the animal has come into river Velliyar,” “

He further added, “Even then, the animal did not take any solid matter and only took water. It was very weak, so we called a vet; he was of the opinion that it might not be possible to revive back, but we will see what options are available. Later we were told to observe the animal’s behaviour. “

He said that they made preparations to bring out the animal and even tried to allure it by sending fellow elephants to Neelkanthan and Surendran, but it had collapsed till then.

The forest officer said, “She needs to be given the farewell she deserves. For that, we took her inside the forest in a lorry. She lay there on firewood in the land she played and grew up. The doctor who did her post-mortem told me that she was not alone. I could sense his sadness though the expression on his face was not visible due to his mask. We cremated her in a pyre there. We bowed before her and paid our last respects.”

The social media platforms are filled with criticism posts, including celebrities and the public. People are condemning the heinous act and even saying that it is because of such incidents, today; humanity is suffering because of a small virus.

The IFS has complained about the unknown localities who are behind the incident and investigation is on. In the meanwhile, all we can say is humanity is truly ashamed and sorry.
