Fake PM Cares Link circulated to scam people in the name of Coronavirus Fund alerts Cyber Police

Scammers have no dignity or shame; even though the world is in the clutches of deadly Coronavirus and hundreds of people are dying everyday; they don’t care. They carry on with their selfish propaganda without caring about the patients suffering from Covid-19, and healthcare professionals who need updated equipment and tools.

Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund also known as PM Cares is an online fund created where people can deposit donations online to support the government at the time of global pandemic. But, the scammers are using fake links to dupe Indians and take advantage of the situations said the Maharashtra cyber police wing.

The Mumbai Police has located 78 fake links and are disabling them to stop the fraudsters from scamming. There are eight links from Mumbai and five are located from Pune and Satara District. The complaints have been registered in Nashik, Nagpur, Thane, Kolhapur and Beed district. They are also spreading mass awareness and guiding people to use pmcares@sbi Id for transfer of funds.

Apart from the fake links there have been three individuals arrested in Nagpur for creating controversial TikTok videos and while two were arrested in Dongri for writing communal posts on Facebook.

The 21day lockdown period which is announced for social distancing to avoid Coronavirus has become the time when notorious elements of the society are plaguing the society for petty gains. It is disheartening to see that when everyone is united and supporting each other; there are people who are creating ruckus and duping people.
